Privacy Policy

How Telecaller24 collects, uses and protects information — including exactly why the Android app asks for each permission.

Telecaller24 is a call tracking and sales activity product operated by Simption (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we deliberately do not collect.

In most deployments, the business that subscribes to Telecaller24 is the data controller for its team's data, and we act as the data processoron that business's instructions. Our obligations in that role are set out in the Data Processing Addendum.

Three things we never do

  • We do not record or store the audio of any call.
  • We do not collect location outside the work-hour window configured by the account administrator.
  • We do not sell, rent or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

Android permissions, one by one

Google Play requires apps that access sensitive permissions to justify each one, and enterprise buyers read this table before they buy. Permissions marked optional can be declined without preventing the rest of the app from working.

PermissionWhy we need itWhat we never use it for
Call log (READ_CALL_LOG)To read the date, time, duration, direction and number of calls so they can be reported to the account administrator. This is the core function of the app.We never capture, transmit or store call audio. We do not read the call log of numbers the user has excluded.
Phone state (READ_PHONE_STATE)To detect when a call starts and ends so the after-call prompt can appear, and to identify which SIM placed the call on dual-SIM devices. We do not use it to place, intercept, redirect or listen to calls, and we do not read the device's IMEI for advertising purposes.
Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION)OptionalOn the Field plan only, to record the route travelled during the work-hour window configured by the account administrator. We do not collect location outside the configured work-hour window, on non-working days, or on the Track and Pro plans.
Contacts (READ_CONTACTS)OptionalTo display a saved contact name next to a number in call history and the dialer, so reps see who they spoke to rather than a bare number. We do not upload the user's address book, and we do not use contacts for marketing, enrichment or resale.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)To deliver follow-up reminders and the after-call prompt. We do not send advertising or promotional notifications to app users.
Exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM)To schedule follow-up reminders at the exact time the user chose, so they fire reliably on devices with aggressive battery optimisation. We do not use alarms to wake the device for background data collection.
Foreground service / battery exemptionTo keep sync and reminder delivery working on devices whose manufacturers terminate background processes. We do not run the service outside its stated purpose, and the user can see and revoke it at any time.
Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW)OptionalTo show the after-call card immediately when a call ends, so the outcome can be logged in a few seconds. We do not display advertising or capture what is on screen.

What we collect

From the account administrator, when a business signs up:

  • Business name, contact name, email address and phone number.
  • Billing details and GST number where applicable. Card details are handled by our payment processor and never stored on our servers.

From team members using the app:

  • Employee ID, name and the mobile number registered by the administrator.
  • Call metadata: number, direction, start time, duration and outcome. Never audio.
  • Statuses, tags, notes and follow-up times entered by the user.
  • Location points during the configured work-hour window, on the Field plan only.
  • Basic device and app diagnostics — model, Android version, app version and crash reports — used to fix problems such as manufacturer-specific notification failures.

Excluded numbers

A user can mark any number as excluded — family, medical, personal. Calls to and from an excluded number are filtered on the device and are never transmitted to our servers or shown to an administrator. The excluded list itself is stored locally on the device.

How we use it

  • To provide the service: reporting, follow-up reminders, targets and route history to the business that subscribes.
  • To deliver reminders, including a server-side push that is sent in parallel with the on-device alarm.
  • To provide support when you contact us.
  • To keep the service secure, detect abuse, and meet legal obligations.
  • To bill you.

We do not use your business data or your team's call data to build advertising profiles, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.

Who we share it with

Only with sub-processors that are necessary to run the service — cloud hosting, push notification delivery, email delivery and payment processing — each bound by contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations. The current list is maintained in the Data Processing Addendum. We will also disclose data where we are legally required to.

Where it is stored, and for how long

Data is hosted on servers located in India. We retain your data for as long as your subscription is active. If you cancel, your data remains available for 30 days so you can return or export it, after which it is deleted. You can request earlier deletion at any time.

Security

  • Data is encrypted in transit using TLS.
  • Access is role-based: team members see their own activity, administrators see their organisation, and our staff access customer data only when required for support and under access controls.
  • Passwords are stored using one-way hashing.
  • Backups are encrypted at rest.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affecting your data occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, individuals have the right to access, correct and erase their personal data, and to nominate a representative. Because we usually act as processor, requests from a team member are normally directed to their employer, who is the controller. If you contact us directly we will route your request appropriately and assist the controller in fulfilling it.

Transparency with your team

If you deploy Telecaller24 to your staff, you are responsible for telling them what is being collected. We publish an Employee Consent Notice — a plain-language, one-page template you can give your team. We think you should use it, and adoption goes better when you do.

Children

Telecaller24 is a workplace product and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We will post any change on this page and update the date below. Material changes will be notified to account administrators by email.
